Unlike most adventure games, Shadow of the Colossus involves more brainpower than monotonous killing of hundreds of enemies indeed, except for the Colossi, the land is utterly devoid of life. But why? And who is she? Will you ever find out? In so doing, you hope to be able to bring a woman back to life. In it, you play as an unknown soldier, tasked with finding and killing 16 Collosi that roam the land, in order to appease the spirits that inhabit a shrine. Although Shadow of the Colossus isn't a sequel to the earlier game, it does share some of the same aesthetic and gameplay sensibilities, dropping you into a world that you're not really intended to understand.

All of these makes the game well deserve to be the PlayStation classic is it until you find that the horse AI is programmed by a monkey, your character starts randomly floats in the opposite direction of your analog stick, grabs edges that you never intent to reach, starts falling off the edge every three seconds, takes over ten seconds to get up from a knockdown, or the camera always just snaps to whichever is the most inconvenient angle for the moment. The music is grand and epic when battling the colossi, and the sense of scale given to the player makes one really experiences the vast unit the enemies truly are compared to what puny power the character possess in order to overcome these extreme behemoth of monsters. The game's biggest strength is immersion, which BluePoint has certainly done an absolute brilliant job in capturing the desolate yet beautiful world of SOTC. Terrible controls and mechanics are the hardest to explain in words, but this game, without a doubt, has the worst control of any game I've ever played. If you are like me and had no idea what the game was about and was drawn to the cool design and concept of the game, please stop right there and stay far away from this game. In Shadow of the Controls, you fight the programmers' poor coding for control of the most pathetic protagonist and the game engine's ungodly physics that takes platforming to an unprecedented un-realism.

ID even go as far to say this surpasses the original and is one of if not the best game remakes ever created. Bluepoint games did a phenomenal job of remaking this classic. No new colosi or extra story but Everything else however has been improved to the MAX.
The story has been left untouched retaining the same emotional journey the original offered. It's also butter smooth hardly ever dropping frames even when giant colossi are thrashing about. With detailed texture work and lighting this game looks absolutely gorgeous. The colosi and environments have been overloaded with amazing detail and the world feels very alive despite the quieting emptiness of it. I couldn't be happier that this remake happened.The graphics, sound, everything has been remade running on a brand new game engine entirely. I've played it on ps2, loved the remaster and now im able to play the remake of one the best action titles ever created.
